I’m Julian, the baker and creator behind Gooseberry.

I’ve always been drawn to the beauty in everyday moments, the places, meals, and memories that stay with you. For me, so much of that is tied to California: sunsets over Catalina from the Laguna coastline, late nights laughing with friends beneath golden streetlights, getting lost in a city and discovering something new with every block.

Gooseberry is my way of capturing that feeling through pastry. It’s rooted in craftsmanship, seasonality, and the belief that something simple can be made extraordinary through patience, technique, and thoughtful ingredients.

I’m inspired by the romance of California, the citrus, the ocean air, beautiful produce, long evenings, good wine, and that unmistakable golden warmth. Refined but never precious, Gooseberry is a reflection of the places I love, the things I’ve tasted, and the kind of life I find beautiful.
